Informed consent policy
Individuals have the right to control their identifiable personal data, including statements and photographs taken during studies. This is particularly important for vulnerable populations, where written consent may be needed for image use. Identifying details should not be published without informed consent, unless the information is essential and consent has been obtained. Anonymization is critical, as detailed descriptions can lead to identity disclosure; if there’s any doubt, consent for publication should be secured. Consent is not required for certain medical images unless there are concerns about identifying information, and reused images are assumed to have prior consent if properly attributed.
